Agriculture is derived from Latin words Ager and Cultura. Ager means land or field and Cultura means cultivation. It means growing things on the land - plowing the land, producing crops, raising livestock and producing commodities. Agriculture products are used by each of us every day. Understanding of the food and fiber system including its history and current economic, social, and environmental significance is important. Agriculture is a $9.2 billion industry for the state of Arizona.
