The B.S. in Nutritional Sciences & Wellness provides an interdisciplinary approach to learning about food, nutritional therapies and optimal well-being. You'll start your studies with a strong science core and then customize the coursework to your interests. For example, if you wish to pursue graduate school in the medical, dental or physical therapy fields, you can take additional math and science classes; if you are to preparing for a career in food and nutritional management, you can incorporate accounting, economics or food services studies. Students in the School of Nutritional Sciences & Wellness have exclusive access to over $80,000 in program-specific scholarships, awarded from 14 different scholarships -- in addition to $230,000 in scholarships that are available to all or most CALES students.

A degree in Nutritional Sciences & Wellness prepares you for careers in healthcare and dietetics, fitness training and wellness. It also serve as a springboard for graduate programs in health and food science. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the median pay for nutrition and dietitians was $69,680 per year with a faster than average job growth overall (2023).

Although your career possibilities are limitless, here are some example career paths our students follow:

  • Registered dietitian nutritionist (RDN): Apply evidence-based information about nutrition and diet to improve personal health and wellness.
  • Health Coach: Assess clients’ health and wellness to create customized workout and diet plans based on their personal goals.
  • Public policy: Develop policies on nutrition that promote health and wellness at the federal, state and local levels.
  • Physical and Occupational Therapy: Help patients improve their mobility and perform the activities of daily life following injury or illness, or as part of a mental health treatment plan.
