Campaign Cornerstones Overview: Fund Raising Plan for McClelland Park

Opening and celebrating phase (2007-08)

Opening and Celebrating Phase includes the following activities and milestones:

•  Conclusion of Targeted Campaigns . The emphasis will be on cultivating new and small donors and on matching remaining naming opportunities with donors. We anticipate faculty and staff contributions of approximately $30,000 ($250 per brick/tile gift plus a lead gift [bench] @ $10,000).

•  Students Step Up . Students have participated as campaign volunteers throughout Cornerstones and even as donors. In 2005, a group of graduating seniors came to Dr. Shim's office with a white envelope stuffed with hundreds of dollar bills, enough to buy one of the paving bricks in the new building's courtyard. In 2007, student energies will be tapped through an organized student campaign, asking students to support the project through brick sales.

•  Kresge Challenge Campaign . If this proposal is approved, we will emphasize the challenge element and the Kresge Foundation's national reputation in all mailings, meetings, and phone calls, as well as on the website and at events.

•  Final Telethon . In the fall 2007 calling period, all alumni and small donors will be contacted and informed about the progress of the building and Campaign Cornerstones, including the proposed Kresge Challenge.

•  Building Opening Event . McClelland Park will be ready for Norton School faculty, staff, and students to occupy and for donors, volunteers, alumni, and friends to tour in 2008. An event coinciding with Homecoming 2008 will celebrate the achievement and mark the opening.

•  Campaign Review and Looking Forward . Norton School leaders, faculty, and staff, UAF staff, and campaign volunteers will review the progress of the campaign and lessons learned and will also look for new opportunities, building on the campaign's success. Donor and prospect information entered into the new UAF database will be analyzed for new opportunities.
